Garage Epoxy Floor Grand Junction CO
Epoxy and polyaspartic coatings (sometimes casually called garage epoxy floor) have become a go-to choice for many homeowners across Western Colorado, particularly for how well they do in garages. If you’ve ever walked into a local business or someone’s home and noticed a clean, glossy, durable floor, chances are it was coated with epoxy. Epoxy is a combination of resin and hardeners that, when applied to concrete, creates a protective surface that can withstand the tough conditions Colorado will inevitably throw at it.
Here’s why we love installing residential epoxy floors, especially in the garage.

Where Epoxy Flooring Shines: The Ultimate Garage Upgrade
Between heavy vehicles, constant exposure to dirt and moisture from outdoor activities, consistent hobbies, or just lots of in/out car usage — not to mention the intense fluctuations in weather — garages here need a flooring system that can handle it all. Garage epoxy floor coatings provide exactly that. Whether it’s shielding the garage floor from salt during snowy winters or keeping it spotless during the summer’s muddy outdoor adventures, epoxy coatings offer the right balance between beauty and function.
- Resistant to Damage: From cracks caused by freeze-thaw cycles to oil spills from ATVs and trucks, epoxy is engineered to protect your concrete floor from the harshest wear and tear.
- Moisture Control: Given Colorado’s sometimes wet and unpredictable weather, epoxy’s water-resistant properties help prevent long-term moisture damage to your garage floor.
- Easy Maintenance: With epoxy, dirt, mud, and road grime can be wiped or rinsed away easily, keeping your garage clean and functional year-round.
- Excellent Longevity: Garage epoxy floor coatings are built to last for decades, resisting cracks, chips, and general wear, even in high-traffic areas. Once installed, they provide a seamless, durable surface that stands up to the test of time, making it an excellent long-term investment.
- Easy Maintenance: Garage epoxy floor coatings make life easier with their low-maintenance needs. Since they don’t trap dirt or grime, all it takes is a quick mop or sweep to keep them looking clean, which is especially useful for busy homeowners who don’t want to spend hours cleaning up.

Why Can’t I Just Go With One of Those 1-Day Installation Companies?
You absolutely can! However, we wouldn’t recommend it. Here’s why:
A 1-day system might seem convenient, but it comes with potential drawbacks. The faster “one-day” application process can lead to issues such as poor adhesion of the primer coat to the concrete slab (…and the entire coating system is only as strong as it’s primer coat). The poor adhesion stems from the fact that these “one-day” systems don’t apply a slow-curing moisture vapor barrier. Instead, they use a fast-cure polyurea as the primer coat. But the thin, poorly-penetrating polyurea primer coat, when applied in the presence of medium to high concrete moisture, is prone to delamination over time.
This is problematic in areas like Western Colorado, where moisture and freeze-thaw cycles can put extra stress on garage floors. The rushed installation doesn’t achieve the level of durability needed to stand up to these harsh conditions.
Moisture is the number one enemy of garage floor coatings. When it wicks up the porous concrete from the ground (creating high hydrostatic pressures), 1-day coatings are susceptible. This is precisely why “1-day” installers don’t warrant “moisture-related issues”, like moisture vapor transmission and high hydrostatic pressures…because they know they can’t. But with our 2-day installation process and use of a moisture vapor barrier, we warrant all moisture-related issues…confidently!
2-Day Installations (Like Ours!)
Spending two days on the installation process prioritizes quality over speed. By taking time to apply a thick (high-build), deeply-penetrating epoxy primer on day one, and allowing a full day for it to cure, we properly mitigate for future moisture. In addition, we top our garage floor coatings with 2 separate polyaspartic topcoats on day two…not just one. And, like our primer coat, our polyaspartic top coat is 100% solids; nothing less. The result is a thicker (35 mils vs <20 mils), more durable, more resistant flooring. Compare our warranty exclusions to a “1-day” installation and you’ll see the difference.
Our method ensures that the floor is better equipped to handle the moisture, temperature changes, and heavy traffic typical in Western Colorado garages. Though it requires an extra day, the long-term benefits make it the superior choice for anyone looking to invest in a durable and long-lasting garage floor solution.
