Can I Get My Floor Installed in One Day?
One-day installations may sound convenient, but they compromise quality for speed. These rushed jobs use quick-curing polyureas (or polyaspartics) as both the direct-to-concrete primer coat and single clear top coat. But it’s their use as primer coats that’s the problem. Polyurea-polyaspartics cure so quickly in the presence of moisture that they fail to deeply penetrate the concrete slab. The result is a thin, poorly-penetrating primer that’s susceptible to the upward pressures generated by moisture wicking up through the concrete (hydrostatic pressure). This leads to bubbling or delamination (and explains why “1-day” installers don’t warrant moisture-related issues). Especially in Carbondale’s changing climate, a rushed job won’t stand up to the elements.
Our two-day installation process ensures a lasting, durable bond with the concrete slab. We start with surface preparation (diamond-grinding) followed by application of our slow-curing, high-build, moisture-mitigating 100%-solids moisture vapor barrier. On day two, we apply dual 100%-solids polyaspartic topcoats that provide UV protection, chemical resistance, and long-term durability. (Note that the “1-day” companies only apply a single top coat and use less-than-100%-solids polyaspartics). Our process is built to last, making sure your floors hold up under daily use and environmental stress.
