Why Choose Epoxy Flooring?
Our temperatures can swing from freezing winters to hot, sunny summers, epoxy flooring offers unmatched durability. Concrete coatings provide a super tough (and beautiful) surface that shields your concrete from damage caused by moisture, chemicals, and daily use. Plus, with options ranging from solid colors to decorative flakes and metallic finishes, you can create a look that fits your style and enhances the value of your space.
1-Day Installs vs. 2-Day Installs
While one-day installs may seem like a quick solution, they can lead to problems down the road. These rushed installations fail to mitigate for moisture because they use a quick-curing polyurea (or polyaspartic) as the direct-to-concrete primer coat (…so they can get the install completed in the promised “one day”).
But as great as these coatings are as top coats (providing extreme UV and chemical resistance), they’re poor primer coats, especially in the presence of concrete moisture. The thin, poorly-penetrating primer has a propensity to peel (delaminate) over time when exposed to high hydrostatic pressures as moisture wicks up through the porous concrete. (Which is why they won’t warrant “moisture-related issues”). This shorten the life of your floor and increase the possibility of costly repairs later on.
At Garage Floor Coating Western Colorado, we believe in quality over speed. Our two-day process allows for proper surface preparation and moisture management. On day one, we prepare the concrete with diamond grinders to create the perfect canvas. We then apply our thick, slow-curing, moisture-mitigating base coat and broadcast your chosen flake blend into the “wet” primer. On day two, we apply two (not just one) 100%-solids polyaspartic topcoats, providing extra protection against UV rays, chemicals, and plasticizer migration. The result? A thick, durable, beautiful floor that lasts for decades.
Epoxy Floors Defined
In case you’re still lost: Sometimes epoxy flooring is colloquially called “concrete paint,” though that’s not entirely accurate. Epoxy and polyaspartic coatings are protective coatings applied to concrete surfaces, providing a tough, long-lasting solution for spaces that require durability and moisture resistance.
Moisture-mitigating epoxies bond directly to the concrete, creating a seamless base layer that protects against future moisture infiltration (from below). Fast curing polyaspartic coatings, which can be used in combination with epoxy, are fantastic top coats, enhancing the floor’s resilience to UV light, impacts and staining. These coatings, when used in combination, are ideal for both indoor and outdoor settings where durability and appearance matter.
