Spring in Western Colorado is a season of renewal—warmer days, fresh mountain air, and time to get moving again. For many homeowners, the garage becomes a natural place to kick off that spring fitness reset. But common myths often hold people back from turning that space into a usable gym. With our hybrid polyaspartic and epoxy flooring from Garage Floor Coating Western Colorado, your garage gym dreams are a lot closer than you think.
Myth #1: “You Need a Full Renovation to Create a Garage Gym, Not Just Epoxy Flooring”
Reality: Just clear the floor and open the door.
You don’t need mirrors, machines, or full-wall shelving to get active. All you need is space, a little spring sun, and a surface that’s up for the task. Our hybrid polyaspartic and epoxy flooring instantly transforms your garage into a clean, easy-to-maintain, and fitness-friendly zone—ideal for workouts that start with nothing more than a yoga mat or a resistance band.
Myth #2: “Concrete Is Tough Enough for Workouts”
Reality: In Colorado’s spring, concrete gets messy fast.
Spring in Western Colorado can mean snowmelt, mud, and swirling dust—all of which settle into porous, unsealed concrete. GFC Western Colorado’s polyaspartic and epoxy flooring seals the surface, making moisture easy to wipe away and preventing it from soaking in. It also keeps dust, dirt, and pollen from sticking around, creating a cleaner environment for fitness and fresh air.
Myth #3: “All Coatings Are the Same—Just Pick the Fastest”
Reality: “1-day” systems aren’t built for real use.
Those fast installs use a quick-curing polyurea or polyaspartic coating for BOTH the direct-to-concrete base coat and the single clear top coat. These are great products as top coats, but poor base coats, especially in the presence of medium to high moisture. Under these conditions, these quick-curing products cure even quicker. They simply fail to deeply penetrate the concrete slab and create a strong bond. The thin, poorly-penetrating base coat is especially susceptible to moisture vapor pressure and high hydrostatic pressures which can lead to delamination.
Conversely, our 2-day installation system features a high-build (read “thick”), slow-curing, moisture-mitigating epoxy base coat. It slowly penetrates and deeply adheres to the concrete slab, acting as a thick moisture vapor barrier. We then top the coating system with two, not one, 100%-solids polyaspartic topcoats for protection against wear and weather. This is how quality flooring is installed!
