Concrete might seem solid, but it’s porous and naturally holds moisture, which can create issues for flooring installations. If an improper base coating is applied, like a quick-curing polyurea or polyaspartic, trapped moisture and hydrostatic pressure can cause peeling in short order.

With GFC’s 2-day installation process, we take the necessary time to properly prep the concrete using a high-build (read thick), moisture-mitigating, 100%-solids epoxy base coat. It acts as a moisture vapor barrier, preventing future moisture-related issues like high hydrostatic pressures. This base coat cures slowly (we allow one full day), so it deeply penetrates and bonds with the concrete slab. This step, and the application of 2 separate 100%-solids polyaspartic top coats (not just one), ensures our thick, moisture-mitigating flooring stands the test of time.

A Stronger, More Reliable Garage Flooring Solution

A rushed installation may look great on day one, but without proper bonding, that sleek surface can start to break down far too soon. GFC’s approach is different and it works like this:

• Day One: We mechanically grind the concrete, horizontals and verticals, with diamond grinders and hand grinders, patching cracks, pitting, and breaks in the concrete as we go. We then apply our high-build, moisture-mitigating 100%-solids epoxy primer coat. It’s slow-curing, so it deeply penetrates and bonds with the concrete slab (we allow a full day for this to occur). We then broadcast your selected flake blend into the thick, “wet” epoxy primer coat.Day Two: We return to apply two (not one) separate 100%-solids polyaspartic clear topcoats. The dual top coats resist fading due to UV light, impacts, and staining from automotive fluids and hot-tire transfer.

This hybrid epoxy-polyaspartic application method creates a non-porous, seamless surface that resists stains, cracking, and daily garage use far better than any 1-day alternative.
