Why Epoxy Flooring is Perfect for Commercial Spaces

Commercial epoxy flooring offers a number of benefits that traditional flooring options simply can’t match. For businesses in Grand Junction, where fluctuating temperatures and dry conditions can take a toll on floors, epoxy provides the durability and resilience you need to keep your space functional and visually appealing. Here’s why it’s a great choice:

  • Durability: Epoxy floors are resistant to impacts, chemicals, and wear, making them perfect for high-traffic areas. Whether it’s a retail store, office building, or industrial facility, epoxy can handle the demands of daily use without breaking down.
  • Easy to Maintain: The smooth, non-porous surface of epoxy makes it incredibly easy to clean. Spills, dirt, and dust are no match for epoxy, which can be cleaned quickly and efficiently, saving you time and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Customization Options: Every business is unique, and your flooring should reflect that. We offer a wide range of colors, finishes, and designs to match your brand’s aesthetic and meet the specific needs of your space.
  • Moisture and UV Resistance: In a climate like Grand Junction’s, where temperature fluctuations and UV exposure are common, an epoxy primer’s moisture resistance combined with a polyaspartic topcoat’s UV protection ensure that your floor stays in great condition year-round.

Commercial Epoxy Flooring for All Types of Businesses

No matter your industry, epoxy flooring offers a solution that balances durability with aesthetics. Common applications include:

  • Retail Stores: With its durability and easy maintenance, epoxy flooring is ideal for retail spaces that see constant foot traffic.
  • Restaurants: Epoxy’s resistance to spills and chemicals makes it a great choice for both front-of-house dining areas and back-of-house kitchens.
  • Industrial Facilities: Epoxy floors provide the strength and chemical resistance needed to support heavy machinery and frequent use in industrial settings.
  • Healthcare Facilities: The seamless, non-porous nature of epoxy flooring helps maintain a sanitary environment, making it perfect for clinics, hospitals, and dental offices.

Our Installation Process

We take pride in our two-day installation process. Day one involves surface preparation, where we grind the concrete using high-end diamond grinders to create the perfect “profile”. We then apply a thick, moisture-mitigating 100%-solids epoxy primer as a moisture vapor barrier (to mitigate for potential moisture issues in the future).

This slow-curing epoxy primer deeply penetrates the concrete substrate. We broadcast the customer’s chosen flake blend into the wet primer coat and allow it to cure for an entire day. On day two, we finish with, not one, but two 100%-solids polyaspartic topcoats. These dual layers provide UV protection, chemical resistance, and resistance to hot tire staining. This process results in a garage floor coating that not only looks great but holds up to the demands of a busy commercial environment.

Why Two-Day Installations Are Worth It

While some companies offer one-day epoxy installations, these rushed jobs use a quick-curing, thinly applied polyurea (or polyaspartic) direct-to-concrete…to get the job done in the promised “one day”. But these coatings aren’t meant for use as primers in the presence of medium to high concrete moisture. They cure so quickly (and thinly) that they simply don’t penetrate and bond well with the concrete substrate. This failure to mitigate for moisture can lead to future moisture-related issues like peeling (delamination) due to moisture vapor transmission and high hydrostatic pressures. This isn’t the case with our two-day process which uses a 100%-solids moisture vapor barrier as it’s primer coat and dual 100%-solids polyaspartic top coats. This process results in a floor that lasts longer and performs better.
